FAQ
1. How long does the Brazilian keratin treatment last?
On average, the results last around 3 months. After this period, a root touch-up is recommended. Whether a full reapplication is needed depends on the condition of the hair and how well it’s maintained at home, including the use of suitable products and thermal protection.
2. Is the Brazilian keratin treatment safe for all hair types?
This treatment is safe for natural, dark, and resistant hair types. For very light blonde, bleached, or highly sensitised hair, we recommend a keratin botox treatment, as it is a gentler formula specifically designed for fragile hair fibres.
3. What’s the difference between Brazilian keratin and hair botox?
Brazilian keratin works inside the hair fibre (cortex), restructuring and smoothing the hair through thermal transformation. This results in a long-lasting, straightened effect.
Hair botox, on the other hand, works more on the surface, creating a protective layer around the strands. It helps restore lost hair mass, reduces frizz and volume, and is ideal for blonde or damaged hair. The formula usually contains violet pigments that help tone down brassiness. However, it does not provide a 100% straight result like keratin does.
4. Can I colour my hair before or after the treatment?
It’s recommended to colour your hair at least 7 days after the keratin treatment. This allows the hair fibre to stabilise and ensures better colour retention and smoother results. Doing the colour before or too soon after may affect both the treatment and colour outcome.
5. Do I need a consultation before booking?
A face-to-face consultation isn’t necessary. You can send us photos or a short video of your natural hair via WhatsApp for an online assessment. This helps us recommend the most suitable treatment for your hair type and goals.
6. Is the keratin product you use really formaldehyde-free?
Yes, absolutely. The product we use is 100% formaldehyde-free and safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It complies with Australian regulations and international safety standards.
7. How should I care for my hair after the treatment?
To maintain the results for longer, we recommend using a sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner (or pH-balanced products), applying a thermal protectant leave-in, and always blow-drying your hair after washing even if lightly to activate the smoothing effect.
8. Can pregnant or breastfeeding women get Brazilian Keratin safely?
Yes, pregnant and breastfeeding women can safely undergo the treatment, as the Brazilian Keratin we use is formaldehyde-free, has no strong odor, and does not release fumes during application. Still, we always recommend consulting a doctor before any chemical procedure, just as a precaution.
9. Does Brazilian Keratin leave hair looking naturally smooth or overly straight?
It provides a natural smoothness, with movement and incredible mirror-like shine. The result is disciplined, aligned, and healthy-looking hair, without that heavy or artificial effect.
10. Can Brazilian Keratin be used on hair with previous chemical treatments? Is it compatible?
Yes, it is compatible with most chemical treatments. However, it is not recommended for extremely fine or very light blonde hair, as these strands tend to be more sensitive. That is why we always perform a hair assessment to ensure that the hair is healthy and the result will be safe and effective.
